God's weird sense of humor....

Evidently putting a status on Facebook like: "I'm moving to Riverview. God has a weird sense of humor..." starts controversy. Somewhere, someone believes that using the name of God and the word "weird" in the same sentence, is the height of blasphemy.

Here is the argument (last names blocked out for privacy purposes, of course):

So my question is: Do you think God's will involve humor or not? Leave me comments. :)

PS. Don't call me Gill. I hate it.

  1. I would have to agree with Jim and say, yes, I definitely think God has a sense of humor and yes, I think we can at times find humor in the way His will comes about in our lives. As Jim said, we are created in His image. How could we have laughter or a sense of humor if that is not part of God's character? Do you think that God is serious all the time? I don't think so. Look at Sarah after she had given birth to Isaac well into her golden years.... Gen 21:6 - Sarah said, "God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me." Not only did she laugh at the timing of God's plan of blessing Sarah with a child, she viewed it as God having GIVEN her the laughter.

  2. Hey, Gillian, I do think God has a sense of humor. Maybe we are here for his entertainment. :) I have no idea why your status caused any controversy. It certainly didn't sound like you were trying to start one. :o Maybe someone doesn't have a sense of humor and it's not God.

  4. LOL!!

    Yes @ rufas.

I believe someone doesn't have a sense of humor. And no, its NOT God. Ah well, He gives us all different gifts, yes? That's why we altogether make up ONE BODY. :)

  5. I believe that God has a sense of Humor...I do not believe that all our humor as Humans come from him. I cannot comprehend a God that would laugh when He sees someone fall or embarrassed about something like we as humans do. But I know that He had to laugh when He looked down through time to see me crying about leaving Tampa when I begged and pleaded with Him not to send me there in the first place. It's like when we would tell our children to close their eyes (so we could give them a surprise)they argued....then when they did close their eyes we laughed at their pleasure when they opened them again. That is how I picture God in moving us to a new place or any other numerous situations.

  6. I never really thought about whether God had a sense of humor, but explained the way James put it, I would have to agree with him.
I think we don't necessarily always look at it as humor but if we look for the good in all situations then more than likely we could see it as humor.
    God is good....all the time!!
